They Play With Alligators!

We love going to the park with Mommy and Daddy. Some things we enjoy more then others, as you can see by this picture. Daddy tells us to sit and enjoy watching the alligator. Enjoy watching something that could swallow us whole? Well, believe it or not we do enjoy watching the alligators. They show us what it was like in prehistoric times, that's a term Daddy uses when talking about the alligators. Since we weren't around then, we will take his word for it.
It's amazing seeing them close up, they really are neat reptiles. No one has ever been hurt or chased by an alligator at the park in 22 years and believe us, we are not going to be the first thing they decide to chase! We sit, don't breath and even smile at the nice alligator!

Can you believe that Mommy enjoys taking the pictures of them? We haven't told her that we know how to use the camera, you think we want to take the pictures?? We would share our treats with them but Mommy and Daddy says we can not feed the alligators, they must survive on their own. Phew, for a minute we thought we'd have to share our treats! 

Mystery of Salchicha's Long Legs

Since the computer was left on today (Mommy's fault), thought I would do some blogging and tell you the mystery of my long legs. First, I am a purebred dachshund. Oh, no fear Mommy and Daddy did everything possible to find out for sure. Seems originally dachshunds had long legs, they were bred over time to shorter legs to enable us to be burrowers.

They were told about every 10th generation will have a "throwback". At first I was offended by the term but found out it makes me special. I'm special because it shows the original stature and Mommy and Daddy said they wouldn't trade me for a million dollars!! Now I'm thinking, what are their legs worth? Hey, gotta do what ya gotta do for treat money!

So, I am a registered purebred dachshund. Faithful, loving, big brother to Lilly and spoiled rotten. Loving every minute of life!

PS. Lilly said to tell ya'll she is worth a million dollars also. Yup, we all have out fantasies. 

Patrol Duty

As you see, we take our duties as guard dogs very seriously. It's a two man or should say two dog job. Now is a good time to formally introduce ourselves. The front runner with the long legs is me, Salchicha. Lilly, though shorter in stature, is actually the more stubborn. She will say she is independant, I say stubborn. She says brave, I say hard headed. But the combination of the two of us works. Mommy and Daddy often tell us how brave we are, which earns us a treat. Yup, we have it all worked out. 

Guarding Lilly

While Lilly is taking a break from her "duties" as a guard dog, she is heavily guarded by her faithful companion..purple elephant. She is very faithful to Lilly. Amongst Lilly's duties are to guard all her toys (Salchicha is on his own when it comes to toys), make sure the treats are safe (and tasty), the neighbors cats stay off the patio (which they do by sitting on the garage roof) and finally giving Mommy and Daddy lots of licks and love. 

What to do, what to do?

Mommy and Daddy volunteer at a State Park so we get to enjoy wildlife all the time. I'll share some of our "big dog" stories as we go along. These birds are beautiful to look at but we were thinking , why just watch them?? Since we didn't want to upset Mommy and not be able to come back to the park we just sat and watched them. Mommy and Daddy were so proud of us for sitting and being so quiet..if only they knew what was going on in our minds. 

Puppie Party

As you can see, we always have a good time! Our friend Astro had a birthday and his Mommy had a party for him. We wore the hats as long as there was puppie ice cream in the bowls! We ran around and chased each other until we got tired, then had more puppie ice cream. Mommy was surprised they made puppie ice cream, but why not??
